RESEARCH

The WVU Shale Gas Network may sponsor shale gas research funding availability, such as the ‘Flash Funding’ opportunity of spring 2014 sponsored by the National Research Center for Coal and Energy and the WVU Research Office. WVU faculty competed for $10,000 each to conduct exploratory research in areas of science and engineering (S&E) and business, policy, and law (BP&L) related to shale gas development.

2014 Shale Gas Network ‘Flash Funding’

With the endorsement of VP for Research Fred King, and in support of the WVU Mountain of Excellence in Shale Gas, the WVU National Research Center for Coal and Energy collected 25 proposals from WVU tenure track faculty for whom seed funding would allow them to become involved in shale gas research and scholarly activities. Six recipients were awarded $10,000 each from the WVU National Research Center for Coal and Energy and the WVU Research Office.
